Breaking Up With The CO

Spotted over at CacheCrazy is this quite humourous letter from a cache. Some of the highlights include:

Dear Prudence,

I think I’m breaking up with my CO (cache owner) and I need your advice, please, I’m desperate!

With Valentine’s Day being tomorrow, I just had to write you and get your advice because I don’t know where else to turn.

Hehe …

I remember when my CO placed me. What a clever CO indeed. Oh sure, it’s been dark in here but I love when I hear geocachers trying to find me. My, oh my, do geocachers say a lot of curses!

A very innocent geocache, indeed! Makes you wonder whether a 5/5 cache sits there saying “C’mon punk, you think you can find me? You don’t want to open my lid … well, do ya!?”

It didn’t use to be like this Prudence. Oh no, he used to come regularly. He would bring me gifts (SWAG) and check my seal. One day (giggle), he even sharpened my pencil! I never had such a perfectly pointed pencil in my life! He was amazing!

Umm, yes. A little Mills & Boon there …

I haven’t seen him in over a year! I fear that he may have forgotten me and has left me here forever. Geocachers aren’t even really into me any more, not like they use to be. I know I’ve lost a lot of weight (no SWAG left), my pens are out of ink, my love-letter book is soggy and my perfectly pointed pencil is kaput, but I feel like I have a lot to offer.

A soggy logbook and dull pencil is something we all dread.

I know for sure, if something doesn’t happen soon I may be faced with the “A” word (archived). I’m not ready to meet my reviewer yet.

What happens to archived caches who have met their reviewer? Do they get cross-listed to Geocaching.hell? Is that where bad geocachers go to spend an eternity getting DNFs or finding mouldy caches? Does the same cacher always get the FTFs there? Are all caches challenged by the curmudgeon? Are there more unsolvable puzzles than trads? Is every cache a stupid Eclipse tin even though it’s listed as a regular-sized cache? Is every GPSr an old-skool Garmin Etrex?

It’s really just too scary to comprehend.

*Make sure you pop over and check out the full letter at CacheCrazy.

Thanks Crumbyrocks, for posting this here at INATN and linking back to http://www.CacheCrazy.Com
We have always enjoyed your blog and consider it an honor to have been recognized by you guys.
“Dear Prudence” is a columnist who we refer to now and then for advise and I thought it would be fun to write her from a neglected geocache perspective. I’m glad you liked it!
Keep on bringing the great posts like you guys always do…..
    Thanks!
